ENSO leads, in collaboration with CETIM Technological Centre, PROTEX “Research and digitization of processes for obtaining eco-sustainable coatings for textiles”.
PROTEX main objective is focused on obtaining new eco-sustainable coatings based on micro and nano cellulose fibers featuring antimicrobial, antiviral and / or hydrophobic functionalities for their application in textiles, mainly in sanitary and protective textiles. All this, under the premise of a digitalized process that allows online quality control of each stage developed to obtain the new biobased coatings, as well as studying the implementation of the process at an industrial level.
During the project, we ENSO will contribute with our knowledge in lignocellulosic materials, investigating processes for obtaining cellulose micro / nanofibers -through the combination of different processes-, processes for modifying cellulose micro / nanoparticles to give them advanced properties, and eco-sustainable coatings, applied on textiles, with improved mechanical properties, permeability, resistance to washing, etc.
EThis project is subsidized by the Galician Innovation Agency within the framework of the CONECTA COVID Program, 2021 call. It has been supported by the Second Vice Presidency and the Ministry of Economy, Business and Innovation (Xunta de Galicia) and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the ERDF Galicia 2014-2020 Operational Program as part of the response of the Union to the COVID-19 pandemic.
